Free-to-play classic bomber game
DYNABLASTER™ brings back a classic with new visuals and game modes on modern platforms. The free-to-play action game is based on the popular Bomberman that has gripped the attention of players young and young-at-heart in the 80s and 90s. Created by BBG Entertainment, this title features the original gameplay where players have to plant bombs strategically in and around the maze.
With its improved 3D graphics, sound effects, and additional game modes, DYNABLASTER™ promises to bring the classic experience to an all-new generation of players. Despite the admirable attempt, however, some are not pleased with how it turned out.
Brand-new look, similar gameplay
Like the cute and chaotic Bombergrounds: Reborn, BBG Entertainment’s DYNABLASTER™ also takes inspiration from the classic Bomberman franchise. This nostalgia-driven adaptation of the action-packed, survival game retains the original gameplay while giving it a modern, 3D look. Available on most digital gaming platforms, the Bomberman-inspired game aims to reintroduce the classic experience to the younger generation and the generation who grew up playing the original game.
For first-timers, the gameplay involves placing bombs within and around the maze to survive. It is direct and approachable, yet it requires concentration and strategic thinking to prevail. The title’s migration to newer platforms means that the visuals also have to keep up. Striking and well-crafted, the strategy game features 3D graphics with isometric design. Complementing the updated visuals are the thunderous and upbeat sound effects.
Various game modes such as the VS mode, tournament mode, and single-player mode enable players to enjoy the game as they like it whether with friends, strangers, or all alone by themselves. From protection gears to speed power-ups, tons of items await to be discovered. While many are satisfied with the remake of the beloved maze game, some are disappointed with the repetitive gameplay and the overhyped power-ups.
Flawed but good enough
Although far from ideal, DYNABLASTER™ proves that reimagining a classic game for a new audience is not impossible. Keeping the original gameplay, the Bomberman-based game comes with nice and modern visuals fit for current devices and extra game modes that offer flexibility. What prevents the title from taking off, though, can be linked to the unvaried gameplay and the overblown items, defects that resulted from a sheer lack of imagination.
